Once upon a time

In the bathroom, she sat alone,
Life so bleak – without meaning shown,
Her gaze so empty, her heart so heavy,
Ah, happiness is long gone already.

The tiles so cold, the room so small,
The pain so deep, the cut so small,
She thinks back to better days,
For she cannot part from his ways.

His marks linger on pale skin,
The pain by now feels familiar within,
A battle inside that she has lost,
A fight with her, he’s paid the cost.

Now in the bathroom, she sits alone,
Her heart so heavy, cold as stone,
A single drop falls to the ground,
Its echo hope, the pain no longer bound.

The tiles so cold, the room so small,
A single drop falls after all,
Its echo whispers soft and true,
You are free, and finally you!

All fairy tales begin with "Once upon a time..." and all love stories end the same way.
