Once she swam free in the deep,
Where waves would roar, wild and steep.
A heart as pure as pearly gleam,
Left the tide, chasing duty’s dream.

Her body gently wrapped in sea,
Fins now buried in sand’s decree.
But love called out, so strong, so clear,
She left the ocean, her distant star near.

Now she lies quiet on the darkened shore,
The wind caresses lands unknown before.
Two legs, a gift from humankind,
Yet never forgets her deep, deep mind.

In salt, in stone, in moonlit sheen,
She stays half human, half sea, and wholly unseen.
